Artist Information
Tim Watkins aka Rockins
Tim was one of our youngest regular club attendees. After noticing drawings on cards he sent us (some of which were featured in the exhibition) we gave him his first paid commission – creating a backdrop for the club. An original member of the Birmingham based Beat13 collective, Tim moved to London to work as a designer for the cartoon band Gorillaz, before setting up the Rockins fashion brand with his partner Jess, recently opening Rockins Emporium in Portobello. Tim’s poster has been inspired by electronic music from the ’90s, including tracks by HIA, Biosphere, Autechre, Aphex Twin, Orbital, Ultramarine, A.P.L. and Violet. Rockins weblink
Aleksandra Grünholz
Alessandra is a graphic designer, running Studio Chaotyczne in Warsaw, as well as an electronic music composer working under the name We Will Fail. Suggested to us by Centrala, this made her the perfect choice to create a poster artwork for Oscillate as well as to perform at the opening of the exhibition. Her poster was partly inspired by a quote by Karoline Rerrie in a recent article about the club: “For me, that music was like the future” leading to the idea that ‘this thought about the future is also a fragment of the past’. A combination of the future and archeology, glitch textures and parchment … sound waves through space and time. We Will Fail weblink
Karoline Rerrie
Karoline was regular attendee of Oscillates in the ’90s, a keen record collector and occasional DJ. An illustrator, her posters have been inspired by the music of the times including Biosphere, LFO, Speedy J and Autechre. Karoline Rerrie weblink
Paris Christoloudou
Paris’s practice is inspired by idealist philosophy and experimental psychology. Noticing a synchronicity between our ideas after seeing his work in an exhibition at Centrala in 2017, we invited him to create poster artworks for the exhibition. Paris is currently artist in residence at Kimonos Arts Centre in Cyprus, where he has set up a traditional screen printing studio. Paris Christoloudou weblink
Mark Bunegar / Fluke Design
Mark is a graphic designer and musician who we met at an early Oscillate. Designer of sleeves for HIA and Beyond Records, and a member of Modulate AV collective, he has made an invaluable contribution to the design and layout of the Oscillate exhibition material. Fluke Design weblink
